Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported that Mile Phelan is in line to become the first ever technical director in the club’s history.
Phelan, who is currently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No.2 at Old Trafford, is being considered for the role as the Red Devils want a figure who will work alongside the manager, rather than above him.

The 56-year-old has expressed concerns about the bloated nature of United’s scouting network, and has been ‘receptive’ to the idea of stepping into the role of technical director.
Michael Carrick is also set to replace Phelan in the assistant manager role, although the news hasn’t been completely well received by United fans.
Some are happy that a man who knows the club, rather than an outsider, will be in the role, whilst other think this is just a ploy by Ed Woodward and the Glazers to save a bit of cash and effort instead of finding a proper, experienced appointment.
